August Step Challenge Info
The August challenge sign up has been reopened. If you join late, you'll have to catch up to meet the step minimum!
The challenge is free to join, but I also created a step guide with ideas and strategies for hitting your 10,000 step goal. This guide is $5.99. You don't have to buy the guide to participate, but you may find it helpful. You can get the guide here.
You should aim to exceed 10,000 steps as many days as possible during the month of August.
The challenge officially started on August 1, 2024. If you're reading this on or after August 1, I've reopened the challenge to join. Please note that if you join after August 1, you still have to reach the 277,000 total minimum step goal for the month of August to have a chance to be included in the winners drawing. So if you join late, you may have to get extra steps to catch up! Easy way to make sure you hit the 277,000 steps total minimum for the month of August: Get over 10,000 steps 5 or more days each week in August - and then even if you don't hit it once or twice a week, make sure you hit over 7,000 steps on those other days. If you do that, you'll hit 277,000 total steps for the month.
How to Join If You're Willing to Do Extra Steps to Catch Up: Download the StepUp on your phone. To download it, search "Step Up" in your phone's App Store and download the Step Up app. Then, join the Jessicancreate Summer Step Challenge by clicking this link. After you join through the app, make sure to also enter your name and email here so you're on the email list (the email list will receive the winners notification).

Walking Pad: My walking pad is the best investment I've ever made for my health and weight loss journey. If you want to buy one, here's the link for the one I currently have and have been using for the past 7 months. I am considering upgrading to this one in the near future because it has a foldable rail and goes up to a running speed.
How to Lose Weight Walking Calorie Deficit Tutorial Video: I recently uploaded a video to my YouTube channel sharing you can approach creating your calorie deficit walking for weight loss. If you haven't seen it, you can watch it here or by clicking the thumbnail below. I'm thinking about filming a "walk with me" video while on the walking pad as well that I'll probably upload during week one or two of the challenge!
How the 3 Winners Will Be Selected
Three winners will be selected at the end of the challenge.
A first place winner will be the individual who achieves the most steps in the month of August - aka the "big stepper!"
A second and third winner will be chosen at random from all who achieve a minimum of 277,000 steps total during the month of August. You're probably thinking: why such random number? This number is based on surpassing 10,000 steps at least 5 days each week in August and then still hitting at least 7,000 steps on the remaining days in August in case you don't make it to 10,000 on those days.
The reason the second and third winners are selected at random is to prevent anyone from getting discouraged during the challenge. I want to ensure that everyone's morale stays up, and it isn't overly competitive. This way, everyone who sticks to the step goal (in addition to the top stepper) will have chances to win.
Each of the three winners will receive a $100 Amazon gift card at the end of the challenge.
